This site, the media server, and the requests server will now and forever be free to all users. However all the hardware and software used are all built, coded, and maintained by me alone. It is a labor of love, but it can be quite a bit of work. The internet also helps. As with anything electronic, things go bad. Since i started this project in 2015, i've lost 5 hard drives. That's just how it is. In the past year I have upgraded the server and it's systems quite a bit. We are running on a 60TB Nas with redundancy now so hard drive losses will no longer result in data loss or server downtime. The network has also been upgraded using enterprise grade router and 10G/b switches. This was expensive. Donations are 100% optional, and will be primarily used for the following:
• Monthly fee for Live TV access
• Offsetting cost of expensive hardware upgrades
I've had several people ask me how much it costs to build a server like this, so here is a breakdown of about what it costs me to run the server. This is just hardware and licensing costs, the majority of the code I use for the bot and for scraping the web for new content didn't cost my anything but the time it took to write the code. I am constantly fine tuning and tweaking it, so I do spend a lot of time on this. However if you were wanting to set up your own server, you do not have to spend this much money at all. I am a tech freak and my setup is ridiculous and is set up for multiple users. Having this set up just for yourself is fairly simple and I can help you set one up if you want.
